Locke's gaze followed the length of Karl's arm to where he was pointing.
Larger, flat stones were stacked in the center of the circle. "Maybe that means something." To him it kind of looked like a grave marker or ceremonial circle.
"I think you might be onto something," Locke said, clasping Karl's shoulder. "Let's take a closer look."
Desmond and Karl stepped closer to the circle. "That's a good idea," Desmond said. He looked at the stones. The outer ring was comprised of white stones that were all about the same size. The stacked stones were grey and flat.
"Look at that," Karl said. He pointed to the top stone.
Locke stooped to take a closer look where Karl was pointing. "Great catch," he said.
Desmond looked and saw a symbol painted on it. It was the first one they had seen. "I think we're definitely in the right place," he said.
"I think we may have just found our spot," Locke said, standing. He looked at Karl. "Way to go, son." He grinned.
"Brilliant job," Desmond said. He smiled at Karl.
Karl smiled back at Desmond and Locke. "Thanks, Dad, Desmond," he said. He felt proud of finding the symbol. He looked down at the rocks again.
Locke also studied the rocks, wondering again what they were looking for.
"You think there is something under there?" he asked. The rocks really looked like a marker of some kind. If there wasn't something under them or buried beneath them Karl didn't know where else it would be or why they were there.
"That's quite possible," Locke replied. "Let's see if we can move them."
"Okay." Karl nodded and bent down. He lifted the top stone off the pile. Desmond joined him and moved the next one.
Locke moved some of the stones along with Karl and Desmond.
"These aren't too bad," he said. (The top stones were about 8 inches long and light enough to move. The others were slightly bigger but should be movable as well.)
"So far, so good," Locke agreed. Of course, he didn't know about the stones once they reached the bottom.
They moved the next stone. "I wonder what we'll find?" Karl said.
"Guess we'll find out when we get there," Locke replied. At least he hoped they'd find something.
